Boost Health And Wellness With Salmon Oil

August 18, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Most fish oils on the market are derived from farmed salmon. Even those labeled “Wild” or “Alaskan” may contain only a small percentage of these oils, combined with cheaper commodity oil rendered from farmed salmon and/or other species. Another commonly used source is Atlantic Menhaden, a small, inedible toothless fish typically rendered in a whole, undedicated state.

In contrast, pure wild Alaskan sockeye salmon oil made exclusively from the heads of the fresh sockeye salmon where processing occurs in a plant located only a few steps from where the fresh fish are delivered by the fishing boats each summer. This approach is important to keep quality high also insures that any contaminants present in the body fat and entrails are kept out of the oil.

For thousands of years, the fishes of Alaska’s seas and rivers have supported human use, from fisheries used by Alaska’s indigenous Native peoples since prehistoric times, to today’s modern seafood industry. Alaska is home to abundant stocks of many species of fish, and offers some of the cleanest marine, freshwater, and upland habitats in the world.

Effective state and federal institutions manage fisheries that are productive and sustainable, clean and healthy. Alaska is the only State in the nation whose Constitution explicitly mandates that all fish, including salmon, shall be utilized, developed, and maintained on the sustained yield principle.

Wild fish such as salmon feed on sea plankton which is rich in omega oils DHA and EPA. This is why fish from the sea are over greater value then farm raised fish. Farm raised fish have to have special treatment and food additives to boost their natural omega content or the oil form these types of fish are basically value less.

The real magic with salmon oil lies with two additional fatty acids it contains, namely EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). DHA is the building block of the brain and retinal tissue. It helps with the forming of neurotransmitters and may be necessary for normal eye function. It is these two fatty acids, almost unique to fish oil, that contribute to the growing list of benefits.

The health benefits all depends on the EPA/DHA concentrations in your salmon oil. Check the label to see the concentrations. Typically, the low grade products, the kind you would find in most supermarkets, contain around 90mg EPA and 60mg DHA per capsule. That’s a total of 150mg per one gram capsule, equaling 15% total.

Buy buyer beware, not all brands are the same. Look for molecular distilled oil that removes all the heavy metals as well as PCP and pesticides that may be found in the oil. Quality salmon oil DHA high in DHA and EPA are available for purchase at your local or internet health food store.

What is the Best Way to Use a Learn-to-Speak Spanish CD?

May 28, 2010 by · 3 Comments

Increasingly we live in a global community. Jet planes, the web and world trade have brought all of us into closer contact with each other. We import crude oil from the Middle East and Africa. A considerable part of our food is imported from other countries.

North Americans are accustomed to speaking only English, but since the 5th largest concentration of native Spanish-speakers on earth is currently in the U.S., Spanish may be the second most-used language there.

More and more native English speakers are learning conversational Spanish There are several excellent reasons for this. Some want to talk to the Latinos living nearby. Some would like to vacation at Cancun. Some want to visit South America and experience the cultures there.

The fastest and easiest way to learn Spanish is to go on the Internet and download yourself a good interactive-audio Spanish learning program. Having all your lessons in audio form, on digital media, means you can take it with you and learn anywhere, anytime.

If you push yourself you can learn Spanish like crazy and learn conversational Spanish in just a few days! If you speak English it’s easy to learn Spanish. There are many similarities between the two languages, many common words like actor (ACT-or in English, ac-TOR in Spanish) and many others.

For places where you can find a good learn Spanish DVD you can click on this link

To converse with Spanish-speaking people you must learn conversational Spanish, the common everyday street Spanish that most Latinos use informally. The best way to learn Spanish is exactly like you learned English. You just begin with a few basic words and begin using these in conversations. See Mary run becomes Vea Maria corre. Step by step you expand your vocabulary, get into progressively more complex sentences. First thing you realize you’re conversing naturally in Spanish!

Being able to speak Spanish will open new job horizons for you, make your next trip South of the Border far more enjoyable and empower you to talk to your Spanish-speaking friends and neighbors!

What to do in a economic recession

March 16, 2010 by · 7 Comments

An economic recession is normal because it is part of the business cycle. This usually happens after the economy recovers, expands and then slows down again which usually last for 2 to 4 consecutive quarters.

Unlike the four seasons we experience every year namely spring, summer winter and fall, this does not happen annually. The last time we had to deal with this was 8 years ago and during the early 1980′s.

The indicators which the economic experts look at to tell if something is wrong include consumer spending, the unemployment rate, industrial production, real income and wholesale trade. To help stimulate the economy, the Federal Reserve lowers the interest rate.

Unfortunately, this does improve the situation overnight and since it takes months before we are able to see any improvement, we have to do our share to cope with the current situation.

People will have to tighten their belts, which means buying items only when it is necessary. A good example is food since we need this on a daily basis. If there are other companies that offer similar services at a lower rate, it will be a good idea to switch as well.

Another thing most people will need to do is trade in their large vehicles for those that are more fuel efficient. This is not surprising because many have already done so even before the economic slowdown because of the increase in price per barrel of oil.

Businesses on their part have no other recourse but to slash jobs in other to stay in afloat. The bad news is that you just increased the number of people who are unemployed.

So should companies slash jobs? Not really because if the company focuses more on customer service, lowering their price points and making reductions elsewhere, customers will still patronize their business. When the current situation improves, the price of these goods and commodities can go back to where they were before.

Is an economic recession all bad? The good news is no because it opens a lot of opportunities for people who have money. For instance, investors will be able to borrow money at a low interest rate from the bank and people will be able to bonds, properties as well as stocks at very affordable prices.

But this is something that not everybody will be able to do. Instead of saving money, some can make money on the side by offering their skills to others.

An economic recession comes and goes. It does not happen only in the US but in Europe and Asia as well. Many experts believe that the current economic recession happening now will have an impact elsewhere and they are right because the European Union has finally admitted that they are currently experiencing a slowdown.

Since you are not sure if an economic recession will affect you or not, it is best to be prepared by paying close attention to your personal finances. You should learn to save up by putting your money in the back, investing in things that will have good returns in the future and not buying items which you know you can’t afford. If you need help, hire a financial planner to help you out so you are sure that if the inevitable does occur, you are safe.

Biomass Fuels and Their Place in the Alternative Power Race

February 6, 2010 by · 4 Comments

With the cost of electrical power and gas prices reaching astronomical levels these days, alternative forms of power are becoming a more appealing option these days. There is solar power, hydroelectric power and even wind power. Another possibility is bio mass fuels. The great thing about biomass is that it is renewable. Biomass comes from organic materials such as yard clippings, wood chips, sawdust, branches, manure and miscellaneous paper materials as well. There are quite a bit more types of organic material that could be used as a potential biomass fuel source.

The appeal of biomass fuel is that it is a renewable source of energy and greatly reduces the level of pollution output as well as landfills. Biomass fuels could be used in rural or indigent areas with ease because of its renewable properties. This source of energy could be used to produce heat, steam, and electricity or even for transportation purposes.

Globally, biomass fuel is the low man on the totem pole when it comes to the first source of energy consumption for people. Developing countries percentage of biomass consumption tends to be higher statistically than the world’s leading economic countries. Places like India get about thirty-five percent of the fuel in biomass form. In the United States, it is less than five percent. Is it any wonder why the United States has a pollution problem?

One of the reasons why biomass fuel isn’t more popular is that it creates only a third of the energy than coal-based sources. However, the upside is that with biomass, it is renewable and you are not draining the world’s non-renewable coal sources. Back in the 1990s when the oil business was enjoying its heyday, biomass plants in the United States were reduced by half. However, due to the rising prices of oil and electricity, there has been renewed interest in biomass fuels as an alternative source of power.

Depending on the scientific research study you read, biomass does produce close to the same about of carbon dioxide as fossil fuels. However, with biomass, it is not toxic to the carbon dioxide loving plants, to that creates somewhat of a balance, unlike with polluting fossil fuels. The downside to biomass fuels is that it is more expensive to produce than using natural gas or coal for electricity. Therefore, scientists are trying to find ways to streamline the process so it is more affordable.

If biomass fuels can be created more cheaply, then the whole world would reap the benefits of fewer landfills and a reduction of the greenhouse effect. This positive effect produces a chain reaction of great things. For instance, by reducing the landfills, there is less chance of pollutants leaking into the groundwater and contaminating it. The air is cleaner too because biomass production would be in a controlled atmosphere to ensure that the residue from biomass is contained. Biomass production will also create additional jobs and boost the economy in those areas where production occurs.

The bottom line is that biomass fuels are becoming a more attractive alternative as a power source. Its greatest impact will be to those developing nations as well as those people who live in remote areas and have no resources for natural gas and coal. In addition, with bringing biomass production to these countries, you will see employment go up and the people’s way of life greatly improve because they are earning a paycheck.

Perhaps in the near future, our governments will finally take the depletion of our natural resources such as coal a little more seriously. When that happens, biomass fuels will be one of the frontrunners as a viable renewable source of power for transportation and the home.

Why Do I Need A Registry Cleaner?

September 12, 2009 by · 3 Comments

There appears to be some major misunderstandings as to the importance of PC maintenance for the average computer user. And, of all of the computer optimization and maintenance options available today, registry cleaning is oftentimes the most neglected.

Home owners know that they’re expected to cut the grass, maintain their property, and even keep up on their home’s repairs if they want it to last a lifetime. Likewise, vehicle owners fully understand that they will need the occasional tune-up; they’ll need to change their oil, add gasoline, and change the tires every year or two. However, when it comes to computers – many people mistakenly assume that buying a computer is the beginning and the end of their investment in the machine, other than the occasional feature upgrade, one-off purchase, or accessory. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

Cleaning out your computer’s registry is one of the most important aspects of your PCs maintenance. Your PCs registry, which is essentially the brains of your computer, almost literally controls every aspect of your computer’s functionality, along with most of the applications that you run. Over months and years of use, or just with a lot of adding and removing of programs, your computer’s registry begins to fill up with outdated information, it stores entries that actually hold errant information, and the entire size of your registry just becomes too large to handle efficiently.

When these things occur, you’ll start to notice that your PC slows down, certain applications may hang, freeze, or crash; you’ll see error messages popping up, or you’ll even experience intermittent rebooting of your PC – without your input. While computer slowdowns can be attributed to a few different things – running out of disk space, inadequate memory, a heavily fragmented hard drive, or even a hard-drive failure waiting to happen – applications freezing, constant error messages, and no-input rebooting are indicative of an unhealthy registry.

The reason that you need a registry cleaning program is because these problematic registry entries threaten the stability of your computer. While it’s relatively rare that a registry-related problem will require you to reinstall your Windows operating system, a poorly-performing registry can degrade your computer’s efficiency significantly, and it can cause problems with certain applications that you run.

Fortunately, registry cleaning and repair is relatively easy – most professional registry cleaning programs are very user friendly; no matter what your experience level, chances are that you can easily operate a registry cleaner.

Cleaning your registry is a quick, and simple, way to help ensure the stability of your computer, and to protect your investment for years to come.

How About A Tilapia Recipe?

July 9, 2009 by · 6 Comments

Tilapia may be considered as poor mans tuna in some parts of the world, but there are tilapia recipes that will tickle your taste buds just as much as any other fancy fish recipes. Once you have cleaned the fish, taken out the scales, fins, gills and gut, that is, it is prepared for the pot. The first thing to do is to make diagonal scores right up to the back bone of the fish, on both sides. Then rub into the cuts and all over the fish a spicy paste of lemon juice, chili powder, turmeric and salt. Let it sit for a while. Lightly fry the fish in a shallow pan, using just a small amount of oil. Coconut oil will be excellent. Remove the fish and set aside. In another pan, heat a small amount of oil ( the oil you used to fry the fish in), and when the oil is hot throw in a few curry leaves, a small amount of mustard seeds, a few fenugreek seeds. When they begin to splutter, rather ferociously, let me warn you, throw in a handful of sliced onions. Shallots would be best. When the onions are soft, add a cup or so of tamarind extract that is spiced up with chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric and salt. You may add a couple of tomatoes that are quartered. When the liquid comes to a boil, reduce heat and add the marinated fish. The liquid should be enough to cover the fish and then some. If you want to add a touch of class to this simple tilapia recipe, you may add a small amount of ground coconut. When the fish is cooked, enjoy the curry with rice! There are also many other easy fish recipes that you can prepare.

Natural is NOT Non-Toxic

June 20, 2009 by · 3 Comments

You would not believe the number of people who confuse the terms “non-toxic” and “natural.” I’m here to tell you, they are not the same thing. There are lots of natural substances that are deadly poison. Take a look at arsenic, hemlock or nightshade. All are natural, but none are non-toxic. It is the same thing in the natural flea control.
Archer is an Insect Growth Regulator that stops the eggs and larvae from developing. It doesn’t even kill fleas! But it does break the life cycle and is totally non-toxic. Now, that is a good thing. The world is so inundated with more and more chemicals that removing toxins wherever we find them is the best way to live.

But what happens if you find that you still have adult fleas to deal with and don’t want to wait the 30 to 45 days that it would take to let them die off of old age? Well, there are still ways to stay relatively low toxic and still get the job done. Conquer is like a fourth generation pyrethrum which is an insecticide made from the chrysanthemum flower in Africa. It is tightly targeted to kill fleas and to be relatively non-reactive with mammals. In addition, it breaks down rapidly in our environment. That was the problem with the old insecticides – they never broke down. They had a half-life longer than you and me!

The final step is to put Frontline on the dogs and cats. Frontline kills fleas that get on the pets, but it does not go into the pet’s bloodstream. It stays on the outside by bonding with the oil layer of the skin.

So, use an IGR always, use an insecticide only if you have to, and keep Frontline on your pets throughout the year. You won’t have fleas, guaranteed.

What Are Essential Oils?

April 29, 2009 by · 7 Comments

Essential oils are concentrated liquid compounds which hold the aromatic scents from plants. They come from plants, flowers, bark and the skins of fruits such as orange or lemon. Essential oils are essential in that they carry the essence or the most important part of the plant. In other words, they have the essential smell of the source plant from which they came.

Essential oils are normally extracted through a simple distillation process. The plant, flower, bark, or whatever source material is preferred, is placed into a flask over heated water. As the water is heated the steam passes over the source material causing them to become a volatile gas. The gas then flows through a coil to a receiving flask, where once it cools, it condenses to a liquid form. This resultant liquid form is the essence.

Essential oils are used all around us. They are used in perfumes, colognes, cosmetics and bath products. They are used in soaps. They are used in our foods and drinks as flavors. Many of the citric oils such as orange and lemon are used in cleaning products. Essential oils are used in scenting incense and and many household cleaning products.

They are even used in aromatherapy where the essential oil diffusers are used to help to spread their scents around an area.

You can buy essential oils in a number of places. You’ll find them in health stores, department stores, the Internet, and even a number of grocery stores sell them.

Before using an essential oil, you should be very careful with it. They are extremely concentrated and if put directly on the skin or sensitive body area, they can “burn” it. Their intense concentration is why only a drop or two can impart a huge scent to a large body of liquid.
