Life Size Doll For A Great Birthday Gift

August 10, 2010 by Jason58 · Leave a Comment

Occasionally parents make mistakes when purchasing toys. I know that I’ve created some blunders with my kid, and it’s generally simply because I did not understand my daughter may be scared of something. Luckily, she has outgrown that, and if she says she wants something, I know I can safely get it for her. I discovered to take her via the store to see if there was anything she was scared of prior to purchasing for her birthday. My mother and I both discovered this the difficult way when my mom got her a existence dimension doll.

My daughter was really young then, and when my mom presented this existence dimension doll to her, she looked at it thoughtfully for a moment, and we believed that she liked it. We were proven wrong just seconds later when she let out a howl like I had in no way heard come from her little body. She was terrified of the existence dimension doll, and she was getting no component of becoming around it. We believed it may grow on her, however it was soon obvious that this would not be the case.

Nevertheless, older girls usually appear to love getting existence dimension dolls that they can perform with. I had one myself as a girl, and although I did not perform with her a great deal, it had been like getting a friend there when it had been raining and I couldn’t go outside to perform with my actual buddies. She had clothes that went with her, and she could wear numerous of mine, although they did not fit her exactly the same as they did me. I was glad my mom got her for me although, and I keep in mind becoming very sad when I realized I had grown taller than she, and it wasn’t truly existence dimension any longer.

They still make the existence dimension doll, but if your kid is young sufficient, a normal one may appear to be existence sized to them. Just be certain your kid isn’t within the phase where they might be scared of things which are as large as or larger than they’re. Should you suspect they might be scared, you are able to usually get it anyway, and put it away until you believe they’re old sufficient to perform with it. You are able to even discover some that look a lot like your kid. Some like to believe they’ve their own twin to perform with and if that twin is existence dimension, they’re going to like it even much more.

Set Small Goals For Weight Loss

July 8, 2010 by Jason58 · Leave a Comment

Summer time is almost here and I know that a lot of people are trying to lose a few pounds. The one thing that scares me is how many turn to diet pills in order to lose that weight. The bad thing about those is they aren’t very healthy for you and might cause health problems. There are lots of ways to lose weight without ever popping a pill in your mouth.

Think small and dream about your goals but not so much so that you get frustrated before starting out. When I say think small I mean in every single way. Picture yourself the weight you desire but make small goals instead of starting out with big ones. What I mean is having a goal of losing 50 pounds in three weeks is not very realistic plus it is dangerous for your body. Instead try losing only 5 to 10 pounds each week or couple of weeks. In 30 days if you lose 1 pound each day that’s 30 pounds and you’ll feel great. Losing just 3 pounds in one week is something to brag about.

A diet is a very bad word and most people should just forget about that word. When people say “Oh, I’m going on a diet!” I usually grown because I know they might not make it or either gain back everything that they had lost. Erase the word diet and think of it as changing the way you eat each day. Instead of having chocolate at night for dessert try having some strawberries. Not only are they healthier for you but they can help provide that energy needed right before bedtime. Don’t go back to having treats and thinking that a candy bar each week is good for you because that slows down your progress. If you want a treat then get some low calorie chocolate syrup and pour some on your strawberries from time to time.

Don’t be afraid to talk about your weight issues with someone. If you can’t talk about it with a partner then try blogging about it online or either find a professional because holding your feelings in about your weight can cause low self-esteem and other issues and that’s only going to hold you back from reaching the goal. Not only could it hold you back but it might cause a few other problems in your life.

June 18, 2010 by Jason58 · Leave a Comment

If you are a painter, you know that there can be only one original of each work you create. However, professional-caliber prints of your art can be shared with those whom you love or for marketing and retail purposes. One of the most popular methods for reproduction today is giclee printing. Here’s a snapshot look at how giclee lets your share your or fine art giclee to the rest of the world.

What exactly is giclee?

Giclee is a French name given to a revolutionary high resolution ink jet process that can is most often used on archival paper or canvas for reproduction purposes. The main advantage of using giclee over other printing process is that the inks are highly fade resistant and can even maintain their original colors for as long as 50 to 100 years or longer!

How does it work?

You send or bring in a photograph or the original of your work to a printing facility that specializes in art giclee reproductions. Their trained professionals will scan the image and perform a series of color corrections to most closely approximate the original work of art. It is a long and tedious process, but a necessary one. Generally, proofs are made for your approval on-site or via mail if you do not live nearby.

What can I do with giclee prints?

Your work can now be reproduced however you’d like: in large wall sizes on canvas, as note cards, or however else you would like them done.

Giclee offers colors and resolution that are both vivid and realistic: in short, this printing process is the wave of the future.

Biomass Fuels and Their Place in the Alternative Power Race

February 6, 2010 by Jason58 · 2 Comments

With the cost of electrical power and gas prices reaching astronomical levels these days, alternative forms of power are becoming a more appealing option these days. There is solar power, hydroelectric power and even wind power. Another possibility is bio mass fuels. The great thing about biomass is that it is renewable. Biomass comes from organic materials such as yard clippings, wood chips, sawdust, branches, manure and miscellaneous paper materials as well. There are quite a bit more types of organic material that could be used as a potential biomass fuel source.

The appeal of biomass fuel is that it is a renewable source of energy and greatly reduces the level of pollution output as well as landfills. Biomass fuels could be used in rural or indigent areas with ease because of its renewable properties. This source of energy could be used to produce heat, steam, and electricity or even for transportation purposes.

Globally, biomass fuel is the low man on the totem pole when it comes to the first source of energy consumption for people. Developing countries percentage of biomass consumption tends to be higher statistically than the world’s leading economic countries. Places like India get about thirty-five percent of the fuel in biomass form. In the United States, it is less than five percent. Is it any wonder why the United States has a pollution problem?

One of the reasons why biomass fuel isn’t more popular is that it creates only a third of the energy than coal-based sources. However, the upside is that with biomass, it is renewable and you are not draining the world’s non-renewable coal sources. Back in the 1990s when the oil business was enjoying its heyday, biomass plants in the United States were reduced by half. However, due to the rising prices of oil and electricity, there has been renewed interest in biomass fuels as an alternative source of power.

Depending on the scientific research study you read, biomass does produce close to the same about of carbon dioxide as fossil fuels. However, with biomass, it is not toxic to the carbon dioxide loving plants, to that creates somewhat of a balance, unlike with polluting fossil fuels. The downside to biomass fuels is that it is more expensive to produce than using natural gas or coal for electricity. Therefore, scientists are trying to find ways to streamline the process so it is more affordable.

If biomass fuels can be created more cheaply, then the whole world would reap the benefits of fewer landfills and a reduction of the greenhouse effect. This positive effect produces a chain reaction of great things. For instance, by reducing the landfills, there is less chance of pollutants leaking into the groundwater and contaminating it. The air is cleaner too because biomass production would be in a controlled atmosphere to ensure that the residue from biomass is contained. Biomass production will also create additional jobs and boost the economy in those areas where production occurs.

The bottom line is that biomass fuels are becoming a more attractive alternative as a power source. Its greatest impact will be to those developing nations as well as those people who live in remote areas and have no resources for natural gas and coal. In addition, with bringing biomass production to these countries, you will see employment go up and the people’s way of life greatly improve because they are earning a paycheck.

Perhaps in the near future, our governments will finally take the depletion of our natural resources such as coal a little more seriously. When that happens, biomass fuels will be one of the frontrunners as a viable renewable source of power for transportation and the home.

Triathalons For Beginners

January 26, 2010 by Jason58 · 2 Comments

Let me tell you a little bit about a sport unlike any other. Let me tell you about a sport that is in a category all by itself. Let me tell you about a sport with unappreciated challenges. Let me tell you why it’s not for sissies.

I’d like to talk a little about the sport of triathlon, and why it is the best. First it is made up of three sports in one. To be the best it isn’t good enough to be just a good runner, or a good, cyclist, or a good swimmer. In fact good in any of these categories is simply not good enough for anything but second place, and second in my opinion is just the first looser.

In most triathlons the order is as follows swim, bike, run. I would imagine that you swim first because race organizers and directors wouldn’t want you to drown from fatigue if it were in any other order. However, I have seen it in different order before.

There are a few different types of triathlon. Let me begin with the sprint distance. This is generally about a 300 to 500 meter swim, followed by a 13 to 18 mile bike ride, wrapped up with about a 5k run. Next is the Olympic international distance triathlon. This is a bit longer and tougher. It starts with a mile swim, not a walk in the park some people can’t even make it passed the swim. Then you transition to a 25 to 30 mile bike ride. Don’t misunderstand though; this is no casual ride through your neighborhood. Competitive speeds for top level athletes average 20 plus miles per hour. Then from the bike you make your way to the 10k run to the finish. Last and certainly not least is the grueling ironman. First you begin with an unparalleled swim of 2.4 miles. Then if you’re still standing upright make your way over to the 112 mile bike portion, which is just as long as some of the Tour De France stages, need I say more. Cap this bad boy off with a marathon distance run of 26 miles 385 yards and you’ve done it.

So, what do you think are you up for the challenge?

An Oversold Flight . How to Avoid Being Bumped

January 9, 2010 by Jason58 · 3 Comments

Today’s airline culture makes it such that getting bumped is becoming almost an everyday occurrence. Of course, not everyone is getting bumped every day, but somebody is getting bumped every day and every day someone’s getting bumped. There are two sure-fire ways to avoid this happening to you. First of all, remember that if you have a ticket for a flight, you are not obligated to give in to the queries for volunteers to give up their seats. For those of you out there who are apt to want to help others, resist the urge if it’s not something you want to do today. You have no obligation to do it, and all those people sitting around you don’t feel obligated to do it, and you don’t have to either. If you have a ticket and you want to use it, here are some ways to avoid getting inadvertently bumped.

Once you have a reserved seat, you cannot be bumped off the plane unless you go up to the counter and volunteer to be one of the people waiting for the next available flight. There are a couple of ways to go about reserving a seat on the plane so that you won’t have to risk getting bumped. The first thing that you can try is reserving a seat as you make your ticket reservation. If you are reserving through a website there is usually a link that you can click on to choose the seats that you would like to have for that flight. Of course, it’s not just about getting a coveted aisle or window seat; in this case we’re talking about reserving a seat so that you’re sure that you have one. Even if there are no ‘good’ seats left and you have to take a seat in the middle of a row of five chairs in second class, you should still reserve it and then ask, on the day of the flight, if there’s any possibility of changing it. Check-in agents are usually very good about this; if there’s another seat available, they will switch you to it.

If you’re booking through a travel agency, sometimes the airline has given the agencies restrictions about the number of seats that they can reserve. Somewhere around 70 or 75% is where the airlines usually ask agents to stop reserving seats for customers buying tickets. What this means is that if your travel agent ‘can’t’ book a seat for you, maybe he or she really can’t; it is possible that the airline has blocked it. If your travel agent tells you that it is impossible to reserve a seat, try calling the airline directly after you’ve finished booking your flight. Representatives from the airline itself can sometimes get around these restrictions. Try all of these ways to make sure that you have a seat reserved; once you have a seat reserved, you are no longer a candidate for inadvertent bumping.

In addition, get to the airport and check in for your flight as early as possible (well, as early as recommended). While it’s true that on very rare occasions someone who checks in late will get to go through security faster because they don’t have to wait in line, and in even rarer instances they get a seat in first class because there was one unsold, in most situations, you are just opening yourself up to getting bumped if you arrive at the airport after the scheduled check-in time has ended. If you want your seat to be held, get to it on time.

Understanding Reflexology

January 6, 2010 by Jason58 · 4 Comments

Reflexology is a type of alternative medicine that more and more people are learning to use to benefit their health in the United States and across the world. It is a practice that is not very well understood by the uninitiated, so in this article we’ll do our best to answer some basic questions that you may have about the reflexology practice. Question: How often do I have to visit a reflexologist in order to receive the fullest benefits from the practice?

Answer: While there is no conclusive length of time that is required for everybody in order to benefit the most from reflexology, many people find that half-hour long sessions once a day for six days in a row for two weeks seems to be sufficient in helping them with the problems that they are having. However, by learning reflexology in your home, you may find that you want to work towards giving yourself reflexology treatment on a regular basis in order to keep your health as strong as it can be.

Many tout the benefits of reflexology when it comes to keeping the immune system strong by decreasing the level of stress that is present within the body. Also, many who undergo reflexology treatment on a regular basis state that they find it easier to concentrate and that they have higher energy levels after receiving the treatment. To that end, it can be a great preventative practice to learn in order to keep you healthy, mentally sharp, and full of the energy that you need to do the things that you have to do. Question: What types of things should I expect when I pay a visit to a reflexology practitioner?

Answer: Many people find that the reflexology treatment process is very similar to massages that they have had in the past. More often than not, professional reflexologists perform their work on your feet while you sit in a chair. Other reflexologists opt for the patient to lie down on a table. When visiting a reflexologist, you will need to remove your socks and your shoes so that the reflexologist can perform their work on your feet. While some reflexologists use massage oil when they’re helping a patient, most opt for a dry technique. The reflexologist will use several different types of strokes in order to address the nerve endings in your feet, including pressure and stretching motions as well as pressured movement.

Some reflexologists tend to work deeper with the nerve endings than others, which can be uncomfortable for the individual receiving the treatment. If you are ever feeling uncomfortable with how deep the reflexologist is massaging, be sure to let them know so that you can enjoy the treatment. If you end up more stressed out due to being uncomfortable during the treatment, any benefit that you will have received from it is lost. To that end, be sure to let the practitioner know if you feel the least bit uncomfortable and they will accommodate for your needs.

The First Examples of Glassware: Ancient Egypt

December 10, 2009 by Jason58 · Leave a Comment

This glass is more than merely antique; in fact it’s literally ancient. While glass itself may first have been invented and used by the ancient Phoenicians, where Lebanon is today, the earliest known examples of glassware actually come from ancient Egypt.

During the Old Kingdom, glass was mixed with other substances to create decorative beads, amulets, and small figurines. These became more plentiful as the Old and Middle Kingdoms progressed. But genuine glass vessels first made their appearance around the time of Thutmose I, at the end of the 16th century BCE.

Some people believe this new use for glass occurred because Egypt had begun to expand its sphere of influence farther into the Middle East. If that was the case, and glass really was invented by the Phoenicians, the Egyptians could have found it in areas where those people traded, and brought this innovation back to Egypt. They might have brought craftsmen back to their country, whether as slaves or volunteer teachers.

In the beginning of the practice of the glass making craft in Egypt, production was a royal monopoly, and the main beneficiaries were the royal court, priests, and high officials of the land. It’s no coincidence that the glass making workshops that have been discovered have pretty much all been adjacent to royal palaces.

The search for workshops such as these took some time, and archeologists have uncovered them only gradually. Some might think it odd that tomb paintings, which often portray other industries like fishing, building, bread making, shipping, hunting, and so on, do not include glass making among them. That might have helped the search for Egyptian glass making find results much earlier.

But it was not unusual for industries that fell under royal monopoly not to be painted in the tombs. These paintings were done for the purpose of showing what was connected to the tomb owner’s life in particular. So if he had land where people grew grain and prepared bread, that would be painted. If he or his tenants engaged in fishing, that would be there as well. But since none of the aristocracy owned glass making shops, those would not be portrayed in the paintings.

The glass itself was made from a silica-sand, lime, and soda mixture. Egyptian glass vessels were created by first forming a core of clay and sand, and then this core, in the shape of the interior of the future vessel, was dipped into a crucible of molten glass and turned several times to coat it with several layers. Before the end product cooled, that was when lines and other decorations were made in it. Once the whole thing was cool, the core was scraped out. Various colors were produced with different sorts of pigments: tin or lead oxide produced a milky white color, copper oxides produced red or orange, and so on.

The Egyptians produced mostly smaller vessels of glass such as little bottles, bowls, or goblets. The bottles often held perfumes, and most of the glassware was destined for high-born women, to be used for cosmetics and fragrances.

Production of glass stopped for a while after the New Kingdom ended, perhaps around 1077 BCE, and didn’t arise again until the Graeco-Roman period a few hundred years later. But despite some of the fits and starts that Egyptian production went through, it’s clear that the use of glassware goes back a long way, and glass vessels have been important to human beings, both for their beauty and their utility, for almost as far back as you can go.

Top 3 Tips for Taking Great Pictures with Digital Cameras

December 9, 2009 by Jason58 · 4 Comments

There are many tips for taking great pictures with digital cameras. Many individuals believe that taking pictures digitally requires no specific skill or prior knowledge, but the truth is that digital based cameras integrate a high level of features that makes it challenging to capture pictures in the way that you want, or the way that you expect. By knowing a few tricks, you can capture beauty in every shot that you take. The following represents 3 tips that you can use in order to truly capture the essence of every photo that you take:

1. Many digital cameras come with preset balance settings such as “Beach”, “Sunny”, “Cloudy”, “Night”, and similar settings. Prior to taking pictures, it is important to learn how to access these balance settings and to experiment with each one. This way, when you indulge in taking pictures you will know which balance setting will compliment the photograph and can set the camera to that setting.

2. Do you enjoy taking a lot of pictures of the great outdoors or of people and places outside? If so, then it is likely that you will benefit from what is referred to as a “Polarizer”. This is a special filter that is often used when photographing landscapes and natural scenes. It works to reduce the amount of glare that is displayed in the image and even eliminates reflections that are not intended to be caught. If you are unable to acquire a polarizer filter, simply place a lens from a pair of old sunglasses over the viewing area of the camera – this will provide the same effect.

3. The next step to taking great pictures with digital cameras is to research the zoom mode on your camera. This is also often referred to as “Macro Mode”. This feature will permit you to take pictures of items that are typically hard to capture in close up. For example, you may capture a line of ants, or a flower in your garden.

It is easy to take great pictures with digital cameras. It may seem a bit overwhelming, but it is important to learn all that you can regarding the features of your camera. Once you know what can be done with it, you may incorporate these top 3 tips to capture some fascinating shots!
